ROOTS RANKINGSCommunity driven
How rankings work
Roots Rankings is a peer-voted ranking of the top boys and girls basketball players by graduating class. Rankings reflect the opinions of players, coaches, and fans in each community — there are no scouts, panels, or paid placements.
Voting rules
- You may vote for up to three different players per graduating class, per gender, per region.
- Voting requires a verified voter profile — full name, email, phone, and your role in the game.
- Verified players' votes count double (2 points). Parents, coaches, and fans count as 1 point.
- You can change your vote anytime — see a better player later and switch to them.
- Vote for the player you believe is the best player, regardless of school or team.
- Don't see a player who should be included? Nominate them from the rankings page.
Frequently asked questions
- What is Roots Player Rankings?
- Roots Player Rankings is a free, community-driven ranking of high school basketball players. Players, coaches, parents, and fans vote for the best boys and girls players in each graduating class, and the leaderboard updates live.
- How are the rankings decided?
- Rankings are decided entirely by peer votes. Each voter may vote for up to three different players per graduating class, per gender, per region, and votes from verified players count double. There are no scouts, panels, or pay-to-play placements.
- Who can vote in the rankings?
- Anyone with a free account and a completed voter profile — full name, email, phone, and your role in the game — can vote. You can change your vote at any time.
- How do I add a player who isn't listed?
- Use the nomination form on the rankings page. Enter the player's name, school, graduation year, and division. Nominations are screened and approved before they appear in the rankings, and you don't need an account to nominate.
- How do I claim my player profile?
- Go to the Claim page, search for your name, and verify that you're the player. Once verified you can add your photo, Hudl, FieldLevel, MaxPreps, Instagram and YouTube links, position, and college offers or commitment.
- What are Reps?
- Reps is a separate workout log for verified players. Players log their own basketball sessions — skill work, shooting, lifting, pickup, and anything else that counts as putting in work. The Reps Leaderboard shows who's most active, but Reps never affects the Roots Rankings vote totals or player weighting.
- How do I log my Reps?
- Once your player profile is verified, open the Reps page from the mobile tab bar or main menu and tap Log a Session. You can record what you worked on, how long you worked, and keep your log private or public.
